Confinement has come to an end, and it’s time to start thinking about travel again. To ensure that your experience is as stress-free as possible, we have worked with our service providers to ensure that allhygiene measures and protocols are in place.

Quality and hygiene requirements

Costa Rica’s handling of the Covid-19 health crisis has been masterful. With one of the lowest mortality and contagion rates in the Americas, Costa Rica is one of the first countries to reopen its borders to tourism. However, this reopening can only take place in compliance with strict hygiene and service quality rules. Let’s take a look at the components of a tailor-made trip.

Guides and receptionists

• Welcome agents and guides are now trained in the health protocol to be followed when receiving travelers at Juan Santamaria airport, 45 minutes from San José.
• A physical distance will be applied. No more kisses or handshakes to welcome you. Your guide’s smile will be perceptible through his benevolent eyes. Mask mandatory.
• We recommend that you carry hydro-alcoholic gel with you. Until further notice, Morpho Evasions will provide you with some in your travel pouch, made by a local craftswoman.
• During transfers, we prefer to use minibuses so that we don’t have to stand next to each other in order to maintain a physical distance.
• Transfer vehicles will be disinfected between each service.
• The driver will also be fitted with a protective mask.

Hoteliers

Costa Rican hoteliers were quick to understand the importance of offering the most hygienic infrastructures and services possible. That’s why we’ve created a strict protocol to ensure that we can welcome travelers back as serenely as possible.

• Specific staff training is provided.
• Hydro-alcoholic gel and soap available at several points in the hotel.
• Extreme attention to room cleaning and disinfection.
• Adapting communal areas to limit contact between passengers.
• The receptionist will wear a mask.
• Transit areas (elevators, stairs, corridors, etc.) will be disinfected regularly.
• Handles should be disinfected as often as possible.

 

Car rental companies

• Each vehicle is fully disinfected prior to pick-up and on return.
• Masks worn by all personnel. When picking up the vehicle, during the transfer and when handing over the vehicle.
• Temperature measurement for people with access to offices.
• Installation of transparent acrylic protective screens to reduce the spread of viruses.
• Hydro-alcoholic gel dispenser.
• Installation of disinfectant footbaths before entering offices.
• Strict disinfection and cleaning of all work areas.

 

Carriers also comply with these health regulations.

Bus and shuttle drivers will be wearing protective masks and avoiding contact with passengers as far as possible. Respect safety distances between passengers whenever possible. Disinfection of all transport units on a daily basis and between services.  

Tourist activities

• Limited access to tourist sites.
• Disinfection of common passageways.
• Physical distance between guides, travelers and tourist site staff.
• Some tourist sites have introduced temperature measurement at the entrance to the activity.
• An adapted and updated health protocol

 

International flights

Airlines have also introduced very strict sanitary protocols. Even if an international flight is not an integral part of a tailor-made trip, here’s a summary of the measures put in place (here by Air France):

• Surgical masks must be worn by airline personnel. Travelers must also wear one upon arrival at the airport and for the duration of the flight.
• Respect for physical distance thanks to ground markings at the airport.
• Plexiglass counter protectors.
• Self-service hydroalcoholic gel at airports.
• Body temperature control before boarding the plane.
• Boarding by seat number. Passengers at the rear of the aircraft will board first.
• Disinfection with an approved long-acting virucide.
• The air is completely renewed every 3 minutes.
