Day 1

San José

Arrival at Juan Santamaría International Airport. 

When you leave the airport, an agent will meet you and take you to your hotel.

A private briefing in French is reserved for you.

Together, you'll work out the logistics of your trip.

This will give you the opportunity to ask him any questions you may have.

Day 2

La Fortuna

Breakfast, pick-up of your rental car at 9am and departure for La Fortuna, a village at the foot of the Arenal volcano. 

The Arenal volcano has had one of the most eventful volcanic histories of the last century in Central America. A perfect cone 1,648 m high, adjacent to the lake of the same name, its spectacular scenery makes it one of Central America's must-see destinations.

Day 3,4

La Fortuna

In Volcan Arenal National Park, you'll have access to the famous 1992 lava flow, so you can get up close to the volcano and enjoy superb views of Lake Arenal and the Tilarán mountain range. You can also enjoy a breathtaking panorama from the observation tower on the peninsula trail.

Free day: visit La Fortuna waterfall, zip lines, suspension bridges, visit to an organic garden, among others...

Day 5

Bagaces

Rio Perdido means "lost river", and is perfectly hidden by its canyon and canopy of dense flora. In this river, geothermally heated waters flow beneath massive rocks. You can explore the river canyon and enjoy a hike. You can canyon, rappel and cross a 200-foot suspension bridge. The hot springs await you at the end of this incredible day.

Day 6

Bagaces

Superb facilities in the heart of a magnificent canyon and mountain region: 20 comfortable bungalows with terraces and hammocks. 2 restaurants and 3 pools at different temperatures, free access to the river thermal baths and the Canyon with its natural pools, tubing, volcanic mud, 16 km of hiking trails, superb canopy course with 15 platforms and 1 Tarzan Swing, 20 km of mountain bike trails, Spa and craft store.

Day 7

Carara

Head for Tárcoles and Carara National Park. 

You'll arrive near Carara National Park in the morning and check into your hotel.

Stop near Carara National Park and the Tárcoles River to see the great American crocodiles basking in the sun. 

In the afternoon, you can visit Carara National Park. 

This park is unique in that it lies in a transition zone between the dry tropical forests of the north and the humid tropical forests of the south. It is also one of the best places in the country to observe the Macao Macaw. On the Laguna Meandrica trail, you're also likely to encounter over 400 different species of birds: crested savacou, herons and night herons, scarlet macaws, tanagers, warblers, etc.

Day 8

Uvita

You'll then head for the famous seaside resort of Manuel Antonio, recently included in the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world. But there's more to Manuel Antonio than its beaches; the Manuel Antonio National Park is one of the country's most popular stops for its rich flora and fauna.

Capuchin monkeys, the famous squirrel monkey and sloths have long since made their home here, delighting tourists who come to photograph them up close. The national park also boasts several beaches, each as beautiful as the next. Relaxation and swimming are on the agenda.

After visiting the Manuel Antonio region, you'll continue on to Uvita, where you'll spend the night.

Day 9, 10

Uvita

The Uvita sandbar, which joins the mainland to a small rocky island near Dominical Beach in Costa Rica's South Pacific, looks like a perfect copy of a whale's tail at low tide. What's more, this site and its surroundings are one of the best places to observe humpback whales in North and South America.

Day 11

Alajuela

Just a few kilometers from the capital San José, Alajuela is much more than just a stopover for travellers arriving at Juan Santamaría International Airport. This friendly little town, bathed in sunshine and history, invites you to a gentle and authentic first immersion in the soul of Costa Rica.

Here, life flows quietly around the Parque Centralwhere locals gather in the shade of majestic mango trees. The imposing Alajuela Cathedralwith its red and white facades, stands proudly, bearing witness to the region's rich colonial past. Just a few steps away, the Juan Santamaría Museum tells the story of the national hero who repelled William Walker's invasion in 1856, a source of pride for Costa Ricans.

But Alajuela is also a privileged gateway to some of the country's natural wonders. Less than an hour's drive away, the Poás volcano reveals its impressive smoking crater, surrounded by a mystical forest where hummingbirds and quetzals can be seen. Further down, the coffee plantations rolling green hills, offering visitors a unique opportunity to discover the secrets of one of the world's finest coffees.

We offer a transfer service to take you safely and comfortably to Juan Santamaria International Airport.

Water and food

Drinking water is available throughout the country, except in remote areas such as Corcovado and Tortuguero, where hotels will provide you with unlimited drinking water. Other options are frequently available, such as continental breakfast (hot drink, pastries, side dish and cold drink).

The vast majority of Costa Rican dishes are made with rice and black beans.

The most popular dish is called "casado" (married man), which includes cooked bananas, salad and a choice of chicken, meat or fish.
